A port that manages 8 bits of data at one time this port is used for devices that need higher rates of data transfer than a serial port can supply. The parallel port is usually reserved for the computers printer.

PCI

A bus developed by Intel that supplants the ISA bus as the standard for expansion cards. The PCI bus allows you to add up to nine expansion cards, but this number is usually reduced by motherboard manufacturers due to size and cost issues. The PCI bus is superior to the ISA bus in that it can transfer data at a much faster rate and is less prone to device conflicts.

POWER SUPPLY

The Power supply is the part of the computer that converts the power from an electric socket into electricity suitable for use by the computer. It is usually rated at 150 watts at the low end to over 300 watts at the higher end. The Power supply is a major source of heat and usually needs an auxiliary ventilation source such as a fan to keep it from damaging other components in the computer system. The power supply usually is bundled with the computer case.
